Race for Reading Event to Fund Children's Programs

Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Radisson Admiral Semmes, Mobile

The second annual "Race for Reading"  will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Radisson Admiral Semmes from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit GRCMA-Early Childhood Directions, a United Way partner agency. A fast paced Kentucky Derby party with a buffet, live music, silent auction, and mint juleps will add to the excitement of the races. Managing Behavior & Crisis in the Classroom – Participants will learn a new approach to behavior management, as well as techniques that will help achieve better control of the classroom… and have FUN while learning about these important issues!


Managing Stress in a Stress-Filled World – Learn how to create peace and happiness in the midst of a stress-filled world – become aware of what is underneath your stress and learn techniques to manage it.


DHR Minimum Standards Training Categories: Child Development, Child Care Professional & the Family, Positive Discipline & Guidance .3 CEU/3 Hours


Location: University of South Alabama Student Center From University Boulevard turn onto USA South Drive. Turn right onto the 4th road on the right; Campus Drive. Turn left into the large parking lot. The Student Center is directly to the right of the parking lot. To get to University Blvd. from I-65: Take exit 3 - Airport Blvd. West. Drive about 2 1/2 to 3 miles and turn right onto University Blvd. Continue driving about 1 1/2 miles to USA South Drive.)

Inventory!

The Lending Library at the Resource Place is currently closed while we transition to a new library management software program which will better help us serve our Patron's needs. The new software will allow patron's to search our entire library via the Internet once all resources have been cataloged and bar coded. We are very sorry if this has caused any inconvenience for our regular patrons!

 

Distance Learning- The Whole Child Series with Alabama Public Television

In collaboration with Alabama Public Television and Annenberg, GRCMA Early Childhood Directions is pleased to offer the Whole Child Series as a distance learning opportunity for early care educators. The 13 episode series provides essential information about children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development; offers techniques to use in difficult situations, and shows how to help children develop to their fullest potential. Provider Resource and Referral Questionnaires

Early Childhood Directions, GRCMA is creating a database about all childcare programs in our seven county region! This information will be used to provide referrals to parents looking for child care services, which could help boost your program's enrollment! If your program is interested in participating, please pick up a provider questionnaire at The Resource Place! Get Certified!

Do you live in Baldwin, Monroe, Escambia, Conecuh, or Butler county? If so, you could receive CPR or First Aid Training for as little as $1.00 per person at your child care center or home through a certified instructor with the American Heart Association.
